If you’ve been in Taiwan around Lunar New Year, you’ve probably heard people talk about nien-huo (年貨), New Year's goods — but where do people actually go to buy them, besides Shopee ??

Join our volunteers to visit Sanfong Central Street (三鳳中街), one of Kaohsiung’s most well-known streets for traditional gifting goods. On regular days, this street is known for dried seafood, herbal medicine, candies, and old-school gift items. Right before Lunar New Year, it becomes the street that sells New Year's goods, including red couplets, red envelopes, holiday decorations, and all kinds of festive goods.

We’re waiting for more details about their New Year activities, as the stores are planning on celebrating and it will be worth observing together. Once more details are confirmed, we will update the exact meeting time with everyone who has signed up.

We’ll walk the street together, browse the shops, and talk about what people usually buy for the New Year. Happy to help out if anyone wants to shop for holiday decorations, otherwise no shopping pressure - just observe and soak in the atmosphere.
